Submission Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in becoming a contributor to Wicked Jungle. We are currently accepting submissions for new content to our site. Please read the submission guidelines below for more information.
Who We Are
Wicked Jungle is an online community of paranormal romance and urban fantasy readers and writers. Our mission is to promote and celebrate the creative talent in the genre by providing a place for new authors to connect with readers. We are launching a new website and are currently looking for flash fiction and short stories from talented writers within the genre.
What We Want
As we are a paranormal romance and urban fantasy website, all submitted stories must fit within the genre. This means they must include some supernatural, paranormal, or fantastical element. While we prefer stories to take place in a modern/contemporary setting, we will consider futuristic or period pieces as long as they meet the broader genre criteria.  Humor and satire are welcome as are darker works. However at this time we will not consider erotica!!
We will accept Flash Fiction (600 words or less) and Short Stories (3000 words or less).
Authors can submit up to four (4) pieces: two (2) short stories and two (2) flash fiction pieces. Along with your submission please include a 2-3 line bio and website/blog address. Please email your submission packet to Melissa@wickedjungle.com with each story as a separate word attachment. You will receive an email within 2-4 weeks to let you know if we have decided to publish any of your material on our site.
What We Pay
Wicked Jungle is currently a nonpaying market. Our primary goal is to provide as much collective exposure to our authors as possible. In an effort to make the reader experience as pleasant as possible we are highly selective in the use of advertising and as a result do not utilize programs such as Google AdSense to generate profits to manage Wicked Jungle. Thus we strongly believe that any income generated from the Wicked Jungle site or the Wicked Jungle store be reinvested in the website to continue to build traffic and thus exposure for our writers.
LEGAL STUFF: We are looking for non-exclusive rights to publish your written work online. We will accept previously published works as long as the author retains the rights to post those works elsewhere. You (the author) guarantee that this work is your own and that you have the right to grant us the use of it.
For previously unpublished pieces you are granting Wicked Jungle First Electronic Publishing Rights. Please note, that several markets do not purchase and/or publish reprints and it is up to you, the author, to decide if publishing your work on our web site, giving up your First Publishing Right for no payment other than exposure, is the best and most appropriate decision for you.
In agreeing to publish your work with Wicked Jungle, you also authorize Wicked Jungle to make any minor alterations to the text and/or title may be made to correct spelling, grammar and/or punctuation.
You may withdraw permission to publish at any time by sending written notice to melissa@wickedjungle.com, and your work will be removed from our website within one week of receipt of such notice. Please note these policies may be subject to change.
